¤ Provide ergonomic working arrangements
at the computer stations to prevent injury. Wrist and finger pain may occur and/or
lower back, spine or neck pain from poor posture.
¤ Extended use of a computer or digital
electronic devices may cause eye strain.
Straining to see the screen in addition to exposure to the brightness of the
computer monitor may cause blurred vision, headaches and other issues for the
eyes. Preventive recommendations
by the Mayo Clinic

that teachers may consider:
á Take
eye breaks every 15-30 minutes for one to three minutes
á Blink
often to refresh your eyes
á Consider
using artificial eye drops
á Improve
the air quality by using a humidifier, lowering the thermostat, and avoiding
smoke
á Practice
relaxation exercises
á Massage
your eyelids and muscles over your brows, temple, and upper cheek once or twice
daily

appropriate eyewear for computer work

á Remind students not to share their
passwords with anyone, including the instructor
